The company

In 1926, master orthopaedic shoemaker Andreas Wiest and his son Johannes laid the foundations for today’s Wiest GmbH. At that time, production concentrated on machine-made shoe lasts for shoemakers and shoemakers’ purchasing cooperatives.

In 1948, his son Johannes took over the business and expanded the range to include products for the shoe industry. These included industrial shoe lasts, wooden heels, wooden wedges and wooden soles for wooden shoes.

After Wiest GmbH was founded in 1977, his son Johann Josef took over the management of the company. Fashionable soles made of wood, EVA and cork have been added to the product range. Soles in natural crepe followed at a later date.

Despite the development of industrial lines, the area for shoemakers and orthopaedic shoemakers was always maintained and further expanded. The development and expansion of CAD/CAM-controlled production for the orthopaedic sector began in 1995. Since then, Wiest GmbH has been a full-service provider, from software and 3D scanners, to insoles and orthotic, right through to the finished shoe in many different variations.

In December 2018, André Wiest took over Wiest GmbH and has been running the company in the fourth generation ever since.
